Strength
Share a personal trainer in a small group for a fraction of the cost of one-on-one personal training. Your personal trainer will tailor your individual program and training split to your goals and schedule and can provide spotting, guidance and support in your sessions as needed. Resistance training preserves strength, balance and metabolism and is proven to be the most effective intervention to minimise muscle and bone loss associated with ageing, medication use, chronic illness and menopause.
Resistance training involves lifting barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells; performing body weight exercises; using cables, resistance bands and balls like you would in a one-on-one personal training session. You will lift weights using a “sets and reps” model, not a circuit format. Based on your training split over the course of a week, our SPT sessions provide the flexibility to choose both your workout focus and what you do between sets. Your workout focus could be full body, upper body, lower body or small muscle groups and in between sets you might choose to rest, superset, jump or perform stability and mobility exercises. You can achieve a full body workout, attending 1-4 sessions per week by discussing a split program with your personal trainer. SPT sessions are also a great supplement to one-on-one personal training or independent training sessions. Where possible, progressive overload over time is encouraged.
Performing compound exercises (multiple muscles groups in one exercise) that use opposing muscle groups (agonist and antagonist) improves muscle balance, strength and prevents injury. Strong, balanced muscles around joints are less prone to injury. If one muscle is significantly stronger than its counterpart, it can pull the joint out of alignment or cause overcompensation. Incorporating both agonist and antagonist exercises is a smart, efficient approach to a balanced fitness routine.
Stability, mobility and small muscle group workouts are an excellent complement to your compound exercises and also highly beneficial as a stand-alone workout. Stability exercises help strengthen muscles that support joints to enable controlled movements in challenging positions. Mobility exercises focus on enhancing the range of motion in your joints. Small muscle group exercises provide essential support to larger muscles during compound movements. Neglecting these exercises can lead to muscle imbalances, misalignment, injuries and stress on the joints.
